Project Green Thumb

Project Green Thumb is Next Generation's hands-on garden project.  During the summer months, our toddlers participate in planting, tending and harvesting cucumbers, tomatoes, watermelon, zucchini and more.  Brightly colored flowers round out the garden to the great delight of all the children.

The program is a wonderful educational opportunity.  Not only do our children learn about nature, farming, plants, colors, textures and nutrition, they also have an incredible sense of accomplishment as their plantings grow into real food they can eat!

The staff incorporates the harvest into snacks and meals as part of the center's overall balanced food program.

Project Green Thumb was established with the help of many volunteers and local businesses - a genuine community effort.  It  continues to be one of the most popular programs with our children (and parents too!).
